LifeLine Crisis Relief Grants help families pay for vet care and temporary boarding
SACRAMENTO, CA (August 14, 2008) – United Animal Nations (UAN) is offering financial assistance grants of up to $500 to help people displaced by a fire at the Riverwalk at Millennium apartment complex in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania care for their pets. Nearly 400 residents were displaced on August 13 by an eight-alarm fire that started in an apartment building under construction and spread to four neighboring buildings.
UAN’s LifeLine Crisis Relief Grants can help pet-owning fire victims with expenses for the following:
- Veterinary care to treat injury or illness caused by the fire
- Temporary boarding for those whose apartments are damaged or destroyed
- Transporting animals to a temporary living situation for those whose apartments are damaged or destroyed
“When people are displaced by a house fire, they often do not have the resources to care for injured pets, or to board their pets temporarily until they can find a new, pet-friendly place to live,” said UAN Director of Programs Karen Brown. “Through our LifeLine Crisis Relief Grant program, we can help keep people and their pets together when a tragedy like this turns their lives upside-down.”
UAN will offer qualified individual applicants up to $500 as long as funds are available. Since UAN’s LifeLine Crisis Relief Grant program is supported solely by private donations, individuals can help keep services flowing to fire victims and their pets with donations to the Disaster Relief Fund .
